Apple Intelligence Features Demoed in Preview; Potential to Outperform Galaxy AI

Recently, a preview of Apple Intelligence features was rolled out with the iOS 18.1 Developer Beta 1 update, along with similar updates for iPadOS and macOS Sequoia. One user who had access to the artificial intelligence (AI) features posted a demo showcasing the Writing Tools. The demo highlighted the AI’s ability to proofread a 2,203-word document in under two minutes. These features were tested on the M2-powered iPad Pro.

The demo video, shared on X by user AppleLeaker (@LeakerApple), displayed the Writing Tools floating window with options like Proofread, Rewrite (Friendly, Professional, and Concise tones), and Summary. The user copy-pasted a lengthy Wikipedia article on OLED, and the AI tool successfully proofread the entire document in less than two minutes. The user mentioned that the proofreading was done in sections of 350 words. Additionally, the user compared Apple Intelligence’s character limit to Samsung’s Galaxy AI, claiming that the former has a much higher limit.

Upon investigation, Gadgets 360 staff found that Apple Intelligence’s summarization tool could handle up to 9,917 characters with spaces, or 8,413 characters without spaces. In contrast, Samsung’s Galaxy AI has a character limit of 500 characters for certain functions. Although the actual character limit of Galaxy AI was found to be higher than the user’s claim, Apple Intelligence still shows potential to outperform its competitor.

While the user did not demonstrate the summarization or rewrite features of Apple Intelligence, their claim of processing over 14,000 characters in one go hints at better performance compared to Galaxy AI. However, with the limited information available and only one source making these claims, it is essential to wait for Apple’s official release of these features to verify the extent of their capabilities.

The preview of Apple Intelligence features has sparked interest in potential advancements in AI technology, particularly in comparison to existing competitors like Samsung’s Galaxy AI. The ability to proofread lengthy documents efficiently and handle large character limits indicates promising prospects for Apple’s AI capabilities. As the technology continues to evolve, users can look forward to more efficient and effective tools for everyday tasks.
