JSW MG Motor India recently launched a series of initiatives aimed at revolutionizing the ecosystem of electric vehicles (EVs) in India. These initiatives were announced during the DriEV.Bharat event held at Bharat Mandapam in Delhi. The company introduced new technologies to accelerate the adoption of EVs while enhancing the overall infrastructure to support these vehicles.
One of the key highlights of the event was the unveiling of eHUB by MG, a platform designed to streamline the EV charging infrastructure. JSW MG Motor India claims that eHUB is the largest charging platform by OEM in India. This platform aims to simplify the process of locating, reserving, and paying for charging stations, making it hassle-free for EV owners. By partnering with leading providers such as Adani Total Energies Limited, BPCL, and HPCL, MG is set to offer a seamless charging experience for EV users.
Another significant announcement made at the event was the introduction of Project REVIVE by JSW MG Motor India. This project focuses on repurposing old EV batteries for energy use in schools and community centers. Collaborating with The Energy and Resources Institute and lithium-ion battery manufacturer Lohum, MG aims to reuse healthy battery components effectively. The company is currently running a pilot project at a school in Mukteshwar to test the feasibility of this initiative.
Amidst the growing importance of artificial intelligence, JSW MG Motor India introduced AI chatbot eVir as part of the EVPEDIA experience. This chatbot is designed to provide relevant information on EVs, including tools to calculate the cost of ownership, research papers, government policies, and more. The EVPEDIA initiative aims to educate and empower individuals interested in EVs through interactive displays, educational videos, and live demonstrations.
JSW MG Motor India also announced a collaboration with Reliance Jio to introduce the MG-Jio Innovative Connectivity Platform (MG-Jio ICP). This platform is tailored to cater to the entertainment, gaming, and learning needs of drivers. The technology stack includes MG Store, an app store for vehicles, and voice commands in six Indian languages. Additionally, the platform offers Home-to-Car functionality, allowing users to monitor and control their vehicle’s systems remotely. MG-Jio ICP will come as a standard feature in all upcoming MG vehicles in India.
