The upcoming Borderlands movie, featuring a star-studded cast including Cate Blanchett, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Kevin Hart, is set to hit theaters on August 9. While the stars and filmmaker may not be attending San Diego Comic-Con next week, fans will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of Borderlands at the fan convention. Lionsgate, IGN, and Ballantine’s Scotch whisky are teaming up to transform 207 Bar at the Hard Rock Hotel into Moxxi’s Bar from July 25-27.
Inside Moxxi’s Bar, fans will have the chance to enjoy live DJ sets by Claptrap, themed Borderlands cocktails curated by Ballantine, and even play slots for a chance to win Borderlands film merchandise. Fans can RSVP for timed entry tickets to Moxxi’s Bar, or walk-ins are also welcome. This unique fan experience will bring the world of Borderlands to life in a whole new way, allowing fans to step into the universe of the popular video game.
Ballantine’s Scotch whisky has a long-standing partnership with Borderlands, dating back to 2022 when they appointed Mad Moxxi as the Chief Galactic Expansion Officer (CGEO). To celebrate this partnership, Ballantine’s and Moxxi created a limited-edition Borderlands x Ballantine’s bottle of Scotch whisky, known as the Ballantine’s x Moxxi’s Bar Edition. During Comic-Con, Moxxi’s bar will be stocked with a limited run of this exclusive Scotch, giving fans a taste of the Borderlands universe in a whole new way.
For fans traveling through Albuquerque on their way to San Diego, there’s also the opportunity to experience the Mountain Dew Borderlands Motel at the Monterey Motel. Co-sponsored by Mountain Dew and Regal Cinemas, this experience will immerse fans into the dystopian planet of Pandora. Fans 18+ can participate in this unique experience, with refueling stops along the Ultimate Borderlands Road Trip tour leading up to Comic-Con.
